Core Plus is a 90-minute block structure in three, 30-minute sections:
1. SSR/Remediation Students engage in silent reading or are given additional instruction to help develop lagging skills.
2. Solo homework/extra help Students are given time to complete homework and are encouraged to visit with teachers to get clarification on concepts and assignments. Core Plus passes are required from the teacher who will be visited and must be obtained prior to the start of Core Plus block.
3. Group work/peer help Students are able to work on group projects and ask questions of their peers. This helps create a peer mentor relationship in which students come to see one another as valuable sources of information. During this time, students can also ask questions of teachers they were not able to meet with during the second 30-minute block.
